Outstanding individuals, collectives at ASEAN skill competition honoured

A ceremony was held in Hanoi on November 10 to honour the medalists as well as collectives and individuals who made great contributions to the success of the Vietnamese delegation at the 11th ASEAN Skills Competition (ASC) in Malaysia.

The event was attended by member of Party Central Committee and Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh.

At the 2016 ASC that took place in Malaysia from September 19-29, the Vietnamese delegation was represented by 44 young skilled workers competing in 22 occupational skills.

Vietnam won ten gold medals in six skills, six silvers in five skills and four bronzes in five skills, ranking third in the competition overall. In addition, 15 competitors were presented with certificates of excellence.

At the ceremony, on behalf of the Party and State, Vice President Thinh presented the Prime Minister’s certificates of merit to 10 gold medal winners and a coach.

Individuals and units also received certificates from the Minister of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour and the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee.

The achievements of the Vietnamese team at the recent ASEAN Skills Competition marked the remarkable advances in the quality of vocational training as well as contributed to affirm Vietnam’s position in the region.

Singapore will host the 12th ASC in 2018.
