The award aims to honour reporters and journalists across the country for their contributions to improving efficiency and spreading the results of the implementation of the National Program on economical and efficient use of energy during the 2019-2030 period, contributing to gradually realising Vietnam's net zero emissions target by 2050, as committed at the COP26.
Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Sinh Nhat Tan said the Ministry has determined to focus on promoting saving energy, considering the economical and efficient use of energy as an important solution to ensure adequate electricity for economic development and social life in the immediate and long term.

He expressed his hope that the 2024 Awards will continue to receive the attention and participation of journalists, reporters, collaborators, and information providers nationwide.
The entries must propagate and disseminate the Party and State’s guidelines and policies on economical and efficient use of energy; reflect the difficulties and challenges in implementing economical and efficient use of energy; and discover advanced examples and initiatives in energy saving.
The award includes four categories: printed and online newspaper, radio and television. The entries can be reflections, interviews, discussions, comments, treatises, reports, investigative reports, and journalistic memoirs.
They must be posted on mass media between October 1, 2023 and September 30, 2024. The deadline for the entries is October 6, 2024.
The organising committee will present 35 prizes, including one Special prize, four A prizes, eight B prizes, 12 C prizes and ten consolation prizes.
The awards ceremony is expected to be held in the fourth quarter of 2024.
