Over 12,000 runners to compete at Hanoi Marathon - Heritage Race 2023

More than 12,000 runners, including professional athletes of the World Athletics, will compete at the Hanoi Marathon - Heritage Race 2023, which will open in the Hoan Kiem Lake area of Hanoi on October 15.

The race will start at Dong Kinh Nghia Thuc Square, featuring four categories, 42km, 21km, 10km, and 5km.

Speaking at the launch ceremony of the race, held at Dong Kinh Nghia Thuc Square on the evening of October 13, Associate Professor, PhD. Nguyen Tri, general director of DHA Vietnam Company, said that the Hanoi Marathon - Heritage Race serves as a platform for runners, particularly Vietnamese professionals, to compete and enhance their achievements in preparation for international marathon competitions.

Among the international runners making their debut in the race are Dino Sefir, Askale Margasa Tafa, and Jebesa Dabesa from Ethiopia. These accomplished athletes bring their impressive track records to the event, adding to the level of competition.

Notably, this year’s race has been granted an eligible position in the age group ranking system of the Abbott World Marathon Majors. Accordingly, participants' achievements in this race will be recognised as qualifying conditions for any of the six esteemed marathons within the Abbott World Marathon Majors system, namely the New York Marathon, Chicago Marathon, London Marathon, Boston Marathon, Tokyo Marathon, and Berlin Marathon.

The total prize of this year's event is worth up to 703 million VND (30,500 USD).
