Vietnam finished runners-up in the tournament after being defeated 2-3 on aggregate.
Park sent his apology to Vietnamese football fans for failing to win the title, adding that the players did their best and attributed the loss to his inadequate capability.
He said that Vietnamese football will continue to improve in the future and he will remain an enthusiastic supporter of Vietnamese football when he is no longer the head coach of Vietnam’s U23 and national teams.
The Korean manager said that the past five years of joy and sadness with the teams are unforgettable memories of his life.
Commenting on his plan after the contract expires on January 31, Park said he will discuss it with the company, his representative and his family, but no matter what he does and wherever he is, he will only do jobs related to football.
