Parliamentary leaders inspect election preparations in Lai Chau, Son La

National Assembly (NA) Vice Chairmen Le Minh Hoan and Vu Hong Thanh separately visited the northern provinces of Lai Chau and Son La on January 13 to inspect preparations for the elections of the 16th NA and People’s Councils at all levels for the 2026–2031 term.

In Lai Chau, Hoan spoke highly of the province’s preparations for the elections and asked the provincial authorities to ensure all necessary conditions for the elections to take place successfully.

He requested the province to create new development space, focus on its advantages to boost economic growth, and promote the spirit of unity among ethnic groups.

According to provincial authorities, the province has issued an election plan and established electoral committees, announced constituencies and the number of delegates for each constituency, and organised consultative conferences.

Voters in Lai Chau Province will elect seven delegates from 13 nominees to the National Assembly.

In Son La Province, NA Vice Chairman Vu Hong Thanh was briefed on the province’s preparations for the elections of the National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels.

Thanh asked Son La to consider election preparation an extremely important political mission of the entire political system.

He noted that the elections must be held in line with the law, truly becoming a festival of the people, and promoting their right to mastery.

Speaking at the meeting, Son La Party Secretary Hoang Van Nghiem said the province has identified the organisation of the elections as a major political task in 2026 and will make the necessary preparations to ensure the success of the elections.
