The Government official made the request while addressing a conference and exhibition themed ‘PetroVietnam - 40 Years of Integration and Development’, which opened on October 21 in Ho Chi Minh City.
He stated that science and technology are among sustainable solutions helping reduce manufacturing costs, increase productivity, and lower prices of products and services while effectively mobilising available resources.
He requested the group to wisely use sci-tech development funds and step up their roadmap for renovation and modernisation.
It is also necessary to enhance human resources, and broaden international co-operation with foreign oil and gas groups and organisations, he added.
As the event brings together 80 domestic and foreign businesses, Deputy PM Hai praised the event as a good way to honour domestic science and technology initiatives and learn from foreign oil and gas companies.
It will also bring a deeper view on urgent issues in oil and gas development, as well as put forward solutions to address challenges facing the country’s oil and gas industry, he noted.
The exhibition introduces visitors to innovations and new technology trends for the future of the petroleum industry with specific sessions such as deep water exploration and production, improvements in efficiency for downstream plants and natural gas deep processing.
The event will last through October 23 at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center, 799 Nguyen Van Linh Street, Tan Phu district.
