Speaking at the event, Nguyen Huy Ngoc, Vice Chairman of the Phu Tho Provincial People’s Committee, emphasised that Phu Tho is Viet Nam’s ancestral land and is home to numerous distinctive cultural values, nearly 1,000 listed historical sites, and five UNESCO-recognised cultural heritage listings, as well as a wealth of intangible cultural heritage and national treasures.

Among these, the Hung Kings Temple Historical Site holds special prominence, dedicated to the Hung Kings whose veneration has been recognised by UNESCO as an intangible cultural heritage of humanity.

The annual Hung Kings Temple Festival is a major national cultural event, providing an occasion for people across the country and overseas Vietnamese to pay tribute to the nation’s founding ancestors, thereby helping to strengthen national solidarity.

This year’s Hung Kings Temple Festival and Phu Tho Culture-Tourism Week feature a wide range of cultural, artistic, sporting, and tourism activities with participation from localities across the province, offering a rich variety of experiences for residents and visitors alike.

Notably, the revival of the street folk culture festival after a long hiatus has helped to honour and preserve traditional cultural values.

As part of the Culture-Tourism Week, Phu Tho Province is introducing visitors to a variety of local cultural traditions, folk art forms, and notable destinations.

Vice Chairman Nguyen Huy Ngoc expressed his hope that, through these activities, Phu Tho would continue to affirm its standing as the nation’s sacred ancestral land, while positioning itself as an attractive destination to drive local tourism and broader socio-economic development.
