Politburo member Anh congratulated the host on his re-election to the post of Senate president for the second time, hailing his significant contribution to fostering and implementing the Vietnam – France strategic partnership.

Anh thanked French parliamentarians as a whole and the France – Vietnam Friendship Parliamentarians’ Group in particular for their efforts to promote effective co-operation between the two countries’ authorities at all levels and peoples in the fields of economics, trade, science and technology, education and training, and socio-culture.

The Vietnamese guest also briefed his host on Vietnam’s socio-economic development as well as the country’s development goals, advantages and difficulties going forward.

For his part, Gerard Larcher hailed the Vietnam – France relationship with significant historic characteristics, adding that France always treasures and pays attention to bolstering bilateral ties with Vietnam.

France’s Senate and National Assembly pledged to continue backing the French government’s multilateral foreign policy and creating favourable conditions in examination, evaluation and ratification of the documents relating to France’s multifaceted co-operation with Vietnam −especially those directly regarding the Vietnam visit planned by French President Francois Hollande in 2015, the French Senate President emphasised.

As a member of the Union for a Popular Movement (UMP) party, Gerard Larcher affirmed that he and the UMP will work closely with France’s other political parties, including the French Communist Party (PCF), in a joint effort to promote the friendship and effective co-operation between Vietnam and France.

The same day, Politburo member Anh and the CPV delegation paid tribute to President Ho Chi Minh at his monument in Montreuil and visited President Ho Chi Minh Space in the Live History Museum at Montreau Park.
