This is the fourth time King Norodom Sihamoni has visited Vietnam since he came to the throne in 2004.
His Majesty is accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Royal Palace, Kong Som Ol; second Vice President of the Senate, Tep Ngorn; Standing Deputy Prime Minister, Men Som An; Senior Minister and Director of the Royal Secretariat, Srey Nory; and the Cambodian ambassador to Vietnam, Hul Phany.
King Norodom Sihamoni was born in 1953 as the son of King Norodom Sihanouk and Queen Norodom Monineath Sihanouk. After graduating from high school outside Cambodia, he continued to study music and the arts.
He was appointed as secretary for King Sihanouk in 1979 and as Cambodia’s permanent representative to the United Nations from 1992-1993, later becoming the country’s ambassador to UNESCO until 2004.
He was selected to be next in line to the Cambodian throne on October 14, 2004.
