Running until December 28, the programme is organised by the Da Nang City Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism in collaboration with the Consulate General of Japan in Da Nang.
Visitors to the event can enjoy a wide range of activities, including an exhibition of traditional Japanese dolls, the traditional Sakai mikoshi procession, performances of Japanese taiko drums, and street art exchange programmes.
The programme also features a cosplay contest, calligraphy demonstrations, and a Japanese tea ceremony presented by artists from Sakai city.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Nguyen Thi Anh Thi, Vice Chairwoman of the Da Nang City People’s Committee, emphasised that over more than 20 editions, the Hoi An–Japan Cultural Exchange has become a vibrant symbol of cultural interaction and enduring cooperation between the peoples of the two nations.
The 21st edition in 2025 carries particular significance as the ancient town of Hoi An has officially become part of Da Nang city, opening new opportunities for cultural and artistic exchanges, tourism development, and economic cooperation between Da Nang and Japanese partners.
For his part, the Consul-General of Japan in Da Nang, Mori Takero, affirmed that the programme embodies symbolic meaning for the long-standing historical relationship between Japan and Viet Nam.
In the context of Viet Nam–Japan relations being elevated to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, every cultural exchange activity and every act of participation by the people represents a concrete contribution to deepening bilateral ties, he stressed.
