Role models of studying and following Uncle Ho’s example shine in Tay Ninh armed forces

For over nine years, the implementation of Politburo Directive No. 05-CT/TW dated May 15, 2016 on “Promoting the study and following of President Ho Chi Minh’s ideology, morality, and style” has become a consistent focus in the leadership and direction of the Tay Ninh Provincial Military Party Committee, contributing to building a cleaner and stronger unit.

Through studying and following Uncle Ho’s example, numerous collectives and individuals have been commended; many effective models and good practices have been replicated; and many outstanding individuals have been admitted to the Party, creating a positive ripple effect across the province’s armed forces.

Outstanding role models

From the example of Uncle Ho, many officials and Party members have demonstrated firm political will and a strong sense of responsibility, contributing positively to the performance of national defence and local military duties.

One example is Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Duc Dinh, Deputy Chief of Staff, who has consistently taken the initiative in advising and thoroughly preparing combat readiness plans, working closely with the provincial police and border guard forces to maintain political security and social order.

He has also developed border defence plans and contingency responses, helping to uphold the all-people national defence posture.

Lieutenant Colonel Tran Van Toan, Deputy Head of Political Affairs, has directed 100% of officers and Party members to train by following Uncle Ho’s example through practical actions. He has also promoted the role of the cadre of political educators through lively and diverse forms of communication such as storytelling contests, excellent speaker competitions, and youth orator forums. From 2020 to date, Lieutenant Colonel Toan has achieved the title of Outstanding Party member and Grassroots emulation soldier for four consecutive years.

Annual thematic learning has consistently achieved high participation rates. In 2017, the topic “Preventing ideological, moral and lifestyle degradation, internal self-evolution, and self-transformation” attracted 99.65% participation among Party members.

In 2018, the session themed “Building the working style and leadership image of senior officials” reached 99.77%. Most recently, the 2025 theme of “Enhancing the leadership and governance capacity and combat strength of the Party” also saw a 99.77% participation rate.

Through the implementation of Directive No. 05-CT/TW, the Provincial Military Party Committee has effectively advised the Provincial Party Committee and People’s Committee on the execution of military and defence tasks. Notably, it completed the construction of 168.24 km of border patrol roads, established all 32 standing militia posts and four border community clusters. Military recruitment has met 100% of assigned targets, with Party members accounting for 2.7% of new conscripts.

Significantly, Party development has seen clear improvements. Since 2015, the Provincial Military Party Committee has admitted 418 new Party members, 128.6% of the target set by the resolution, demonstrating the effectiveness of the movement of studying and following Uncle Ho.

Continuing to follow Uncle Ho in the era of organisational reform

According to Colonel Nguyen Thanh Phong, after ten years of implementing Directive No. 05, the force has seen 2,421 collectives and 3,234 individuals commended; 323 officers promoted ahead of schedule; and 207 officers appointed to new positions.

Many effective models and innovative initiatives have been recognised, such as: “Strengthening connections and support for ethnic and religious communities”, “Five proactives in ideological work”, “Five-good Party cells and five-good Party members”, “Officers and Party members mentoring masses and subordinates”, and “Four-good grassroots Party organisations and Party cells”.

The Tay Ninh Provincial Military Party Committee has identified that restructuring and reorganising the political system, including the armed forces, is a major and timely policy in response to the nation’s new development phase.

As the Central Military Commission explores plans to reorganise the military, each officer and Party member must continue to uphold their sense of responsibility, ensure the right mindset, motivation, and attitude in carrying out their duties. Regardless of time or position, every officer and soldier must strive to fulfil all assigned tasks excellently.

“In this period of transition, it is all the more vital to demonstrate political mettle, loyalty, unity, and a spirit of learning among each officer and Party member. That is the most practical testament to studying and following our beloved Uncle Ho,” Colonel Nguyen Thanh Phong affirmed.
