Philippe Troussier’s side headed into the clash with strong determination, targeting a win to avoid an empty-handed SEA Games campaign.

Vietnam opened the scoring after only eight minutes as Ho Van Cuong comfortably beat the Myanmar goalkeeper from close range.

It was also Cuong who completed a double from Le Van Do’s pass in the 35th minute to hand Vietnam a 2-0 lead into halftime.

After the break, Vietnam continued to set the pace of the game and found their third goal three minutes before the hour mark thanks to Khuat Van An’s attempt.

Myanmar managed to pull a goal back in the 89th minute which turned out to be just a consolation as the time left was too short for them to turn the tide.

With the comfortable victory, Vietnam brought home a bronze medal from the 32nd SEA Games in Cambodia.

Tonight, Thailand and Indonesia will compete in the final match to decide the winners of the overall title.
