Hanoi supplies enough goods, advises people not to hoard

Facing the new developments of the Covid-19 epidemic, goods supply businesses in Hanoi are increasing their reserves by three to five times as compared to normal, especially in terms of essential items, to meet people’s consumption needs.

Currently, the supply of goods in Hanoi is abundant, people do not have to worry about buying and hoarding goods, causing instability in the market.

On the afternoon of July 18, a leader of the Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade said the city has now prepared an amount of essential goods that is triple that of normal months.

Accordingly, it is expected the amount of goods ready to serve people in the area in 3 months is worth about VND194,000 billion; The expected amount of goods to support provinces and cities (if any) is about VND 21,500 billion.

All districts, towns have plans to arrange 1,920 locations ready to be requisitioned for storage and mobile sales, and 236 vehicles ready to transport goods when necessary.

In addition to the preparation of the source of goods, the transportation, circulation and distribution of goods are also being paid special attention to by businesses. Tran Thi Phuong Lan, Acting Director-General of the Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade, said that the Department proposed the Hanoi People's Committee allow 132 vehicles and the petrol tankers of 20 businesses to operate 24 hours a day, to ensure an adequate supply of essential goods to serve people’s needs.

Simultaneously, the department has coordinated with the Department of Transport and the Hanoi Police Department to create conditions for 495 vehicles to carry goods, agricultural products, and raw materials of Bac Giang province (which has ensured regulations on epidemic prevention and control in terms of people, vehicles, goods) to circulate in Hanoi, through checkpoints and quarantine stations according to regulations in order to promptly supply goods for production and business activities.

However, in order to be proactive in all situations, leaders of the Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade suggested the distribution systems be more proactive, closely grasping the city's anti-epidemic situation to proactively supply and serve demand, so as to see no shortages of goods for the people.
