The Jury Council of the tenth National Press Awards announced winners of this year’s awards, including eight A, 25 B, 40 C and 19 consolation prizes.

One-A and three-B prizes went to works by Nhan Dan (The People’s) Newspaper in four categories, including reports, investigative reports, notes and recap-summaries.

The 2015 National Press Awards attracted 169 units and individuals with 1,660 entries. They reflected the country’s political mission in 2015 with various new difficulties and challenges. A ceremony to present the awards will be held at the Cultural Friendship Palace on June 21.

On the same day, Nghe An provincial People’s Committee held a ceremony in Cua Lo town to mark the 91st Vietnamese Revolutionary Press Day. The event was attended by member of the Party Central Committee, Editor-in-chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper and Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists’ Association (VJA) Thuan Huu.

At the ceremony, delegates reviewed heroic periods of the Vietnamese revolutionary press. Nghe An’s press has significantly developed in quantity, quality, contents, forms, technology and scale over the past years, contributing to improving the spiritual life of local people as well as directly communicating the Party’s resolution and guidelines and State’s policies and laws to the public.

Addressing the ceremony, VJA Chairman Thuan Huu appreciated the great contributions of the press to the socio-economic development of Nghe An province. He also asked journalists, reporters and technicians to continue to practice and improve professional ethics and skills to fulfill the glorious mission of the revolutionary press.

On the occasion, the Nghe An provincial journalists’ association was presented with a Labour Order (third class). In addition, its 39 members received the medal “For the cause of the Vietnamese revolutionary press”.

Also on June 14, the VJA, in collaboration with Communist Journal, held a seminar themed ‘Journalist Hong Chuong with the Vietnamese revolutionary press’. The event highlighted his positive and effective contributions to the development of the Vietnamese press, contributing to enhancing the ‘studying and following President Ho Chi Minh’s moral example’ and ‘studying President Ho Chi Minh’s press thoughts and style’ campaigns.

On the same day, Ho Chi Minh City’s Public Security Newspaper held a ceremony to mark its 40th anniversary (June 15) and receive the Fatherland Protection Order (third class).
