The event was organised by the Ha Giang provincial People's Committee coordinated with the Department of Asia and Africa Markets under the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam (MoIT).
The conference provided business units, enterprises, managers with information on market demand and demand for quality and quarantine testing in China for fruit and fruit products. As a result of the event, the Vietnamese enterprises and farmers would better understand the Chinese market and meet the market’s demands.
According to Deputy Director General of the Department of Asia and Africa Markets, the trade relations between Vietnam and China have strongly developed over the past year. Vietnam is currently China's largest trading partner in ASEAN, while China is second market for Vietnamese exports.
He noted that during January-November, Vietnam earned US$6.98 billion from farm produce exports to China, 40 percent more than in the same period last year.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade gives attention to sustainable shipments to foreign markets, including China, he said.
Most Vietnamese agricultural exports to China, including fruit, cassava and dried seafood, are shipped via Thanh Thuy International Border Gate in Ha Giang province.
In 2017, nearly 350 enterprises had products shipped to China through the gate, up 200 from last year.
