Thousands of mid-autumn festival gifts presented to disadvantaged children

Thousands of gifts were presented to disadvantaged and ethnic children across the country to help them celebrate a warm and happy mid-autumn festival.

Quang Binh provincial border guards organised a mid-autumn celebration for Ruc ethnic children in Thuong Hoa commune, Minh Hoa district on September 23. Children at the event participated in a lantern procession, prepared a mid-autumn festival banquet, and tasted moon cakes.

More than 2,100 gifts were presented to children in border villages in the area on the occasion.

On the morning of the same day, more than 1,000 orphans and children with disabilities in Dong Nai province joined a mid-autumn programme hosted by Tin Nghia Corporation.

Businesses at the event gifted scholarships worth VND900 million to participating children, and presented them with moon cakes and student notebooks.

Meanwhile, the Dak Lak provincial Department of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs in coordination with the provincial Youth Union hosted a programme to celebrate the occasion in Buon Ho town for nearly 2,000 local ethnic children yesterday evening.

The organising board presented 30 bicycles and 50 scholarships worth VND1 million each to poor children with outstanding academic results.

A similar celebration was held in Ho Chi Minh City for more than 1,000 children whose parents are working at industrial parks in the city.

On September 24, a working delegation of Thanh Hoa provincial People’s Committee visited and delivered mid-autumn festival gifts to children at SOS Children’s Village and Social Sponsorship Centre in the locality.
