General Luong Cuong salutes former Party and State leaders

General Luong Cuong, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Standing Member of the Central Military Commission and Director of the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA) General Department of Politics (GDP), saluted former Party and State leaders, who are also former GDP Directors, on July 23 on the occasion of the 72nd anniversary of the Wounded and Fallen Soldiers’ Day.

General Luong Cuong visited Senior Lieutenant-General Le Kha Phieu, former Politburo member and former Party General Secretary,; General Nguyen Quyet, former Secretary of the Party Central Committee and former Vice President of the State Council; and Senior Lieutenant-General, former Politburo member Phan Thanh Ngan.

During the visits, General Cuong informed his predecessors on the current state of affairs and tasks of the army as well as its Party building work and activities to commemorate the 72nd anniversary of Wounded and Fallen Soldiers' Day.

He wished the former senior officials longevity and called on them to share their valuable experiences to facilitate the development of the Party’s revolutionary career and the army in particular.

He asserted that in any circumstances, Vietnamese soldiers and army officers are absolutely loyal to the Party, State and people and follow the moral examples of their predecessors who fell down for the national independence and reunification while exerting efforts to overcome all assigned tasks and contributing to the army’s development.

For their parts, the former Party and State leaders thanked General Cuong for his visits, expressing their pleasure that the outcomes of the army’s development, calling on the entire army to promote the tradition of Uncle Ho’s soldiers to fulfil tasks assigned by the Party, State and people.
