Tet gifts presented to needy people nationwide

Politburo member, Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee and Head of the CPV Central Committee’s Commission for Communication and Education Vo Van Thuong also presented 100 gift packages to poor families, policy beneficiaries and Agent Orange/Dioxin victims in Vi Xuyen town and Cao Bo commune, the northern mountainous province of Ha Giang on January 5.

On the same day, Politburo member and Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh on January 5 visited and presented Tet (Lunar New Year) gifts to over 100 poor households in Thanh Duc, Lao Chai, Xin Chai, Thanh Thuy, and Minh Tan districts, Vi Xuyen district, Ha Giang province.

During their visits, the officials asked local authorities to ensure a joyous Tet for all people, especially those from disadvantaged households.

Nearly VND75 billion (US$3.25 million) was donated to disadvantaged people during a fund-raising programme entitled “Tet for the poor” in the central province of Nghe An on January 4.

Also on January 5, the Representative Office of Nhan Dan Newspaper in the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho in coordination with the Binh Chanh District Business Women's Club, Ho Chi Minh City presented Tet gifts to needy households and students in difficult circumstances in the border commune of Thuong Thoi Hau A, Hong Ngu district, Dong Thap province.
