At the special national relic site of Pac Bo, the HCYU presented gifts to families of local policy beneficiaries, and former youth volunteers. Scholarships and 30 bicycles were awarded to poor students in Ha Quang District on the occasion.

The youth union then held the ground-breaking ceremony of Kim Dong Stilt House in Na Ma Village, which is named after young Nung ethnic heroic martyr Nong Van Den, alias Kim Dong (1929-1943).

Kim Dong became the first leader of the Ho Chi Minh Young Pioneer Organisation when he was 12.

His job was to carry messages and coded letters, and to protect the revolutionaries who worked in Viet Bac – the northernmost revolutionary base during the national resistance war against the French. He died on duty when he was 14.

Covering a total area of 200 square metres, the house is being constructed according to the traditional architectural style of Nung ethnic people with an investment of VND230 million. The project is expected to be completed in mid-May to mark the 80th founding anniversary of the Ho Chi Minh Young Pioneer Organisation (1941-2021).

On the same day, the youth union members planted 5,200 youth trees in the villages of Ma Lip and Hong Viet in response to the 2021 tree planting festival.

The HCYU also presented 20 gifts to policies beneficiaries in Ma Lip Village and granted VND600 million to support local youth union to implement five projects on improving the living conditions of the villagers.
