Minh, Trang claim titles at Hanoi Challenger

Nguyen Tien Minh and Vu Thi Trang both secured gold medals after winning the finals of the Yonex Sunrise Vietnam International Challenge on June 5 in Hanoi.

No 1 Minh defeated No 2 Tzu Wei Wang of Chinese Taipei 22-20, 21-16 in the men’s singles match.

Trang, No 2 seed, won 19-21, 21-19, 21-13 over No 7 Saena Kawakami of Japan in the women’s singles.

No 6 Yuki Fukushima and Chiharu Shida beat No 2 duo Shiho Tanaka and Koharu Yonemoto 28-26, 21-15 in the all-Japanese women’s doubles category.

Also, Malaysian Yew Sin Ong and Ee Yi Tao, the No 6 pair, trounced Japan’s Kenya Mitsuhashi and Yuta Watanabe 21-19, 21-14 in the men’s doubles.

Watanabe then pocketed his second gold medal in the mixed doubles when pairing with Arisa Higashino to easily defeat Thai duo Tinn Isriyanet and Pacharapun Chochuwong 21-16, 21-14.
