As one of the largest foreign-invested projects in Long An, the plant covers an area of 20 hectares and has an annual production capacity of 800 million litres of drinks a year.
Speaking at the ceremony, Long An Chairman Nguyen Van Ut said that Suntory PepsiCo’s selection of Long An for this project demonstrates the province’s improving business climate.
In recent years, Long An has received major investments from such companies as Lotte, VinaCapital, Saigontel, Ione and Coca-Cola, which are expected to boost local socio-economic development along with the PepsiCo project.
According to the Long An leader, this project’s use of solar and biomass energy in lieu of fossil fuels comes in line with Vietnam and Long An’s sustainable development goals, thereby helping to realise Vietnam’s commitment to achieve net zero emissions by 2050.
On the occasion, Suntory PepsiCo donated 500 million VND (20,000 USD) to Long An for clean water projects at local schools.
