He made the remarks at a meeting between a delegation of Swedish enterprises led by Jan Stjernstrom, chairman of the Swedish Chamber of Commerce in Singapore (SwedCham) and the Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Nguyen Thanh Phong in Ho Chi Minh City on April 24.
The Ho Chi Minh City leader praised the Swedish enterprises for actively cooperating with Ho Chi Minh City, particularly in the area of high technology and innovative solutions.
He noted that the city plans to build six urban metro routes and is calling for foreign investment in these routes, which is an opportunity for Swedish enterprises to cooperate with the city.
Chairman Phong expressed his hope that the Swedish enterprises would cooperate with Ho Chi Minh City in the health sector so that the city can acquire technology transfer, new health management models and enhance its capacity of medical workers.
The city leader also called for Swedish investment in the areas of smart city development, waste treatment and seaport development, among others, adding that the local authorities will create optimal conditions for Swedish firms to do business in the city.
Jan Stjernstrom said that SwedCham has more than 300 member enterprises and many members have cooperated effectively with Vietnam and Ho Chi Minh City.
Ambassador Hakan Jevrell said that the visit to Vietnam by the Swedish firms aimed to expand the business and trade exchanges between Sweden and Vietnam and Ho Chi Minh City.
The Swedish firms also introduced their major areas of business and wished to enhance their cooperation with Ho Chi Minh City and open representative offices in Vietnam in the near future.
