Recently, books written about the beloved President Ho Chi Minh were solemnly presented by the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports to the General Union of Vietnamese in Belgium (UGVB) and the Vietnamese Ao Dai Heritage Club in Belgium.

Chairman of the Ha Noi People’s Committee Vu Dai Thang has urged overseas Vietnamese (OVs) to continue contributing to the capital’s development not only in science, technology and business but also in culture, tourism and international cooperation.

Party General Secretary To Lam on February 8 met with a delegation of outstanding overseas Vietnamese (OVs) attending the Homeland Spring Programme 2026, urging them to continue contributions to the nation building and development cause.

The Viet Nam Fatherland Front (VFF) always values and treasures the valuable contributions made by overseas Vietnamese (OVs), Chairwoman of the VFF Central Committee Bui Thi Minh Hoai affirmed, stressing that the Party and State consistently regard the OV community as an inseparable part and an important resource of the Vietnamese nation.

State President Luong Cuong and his spouse, along with representatives from ministries, agencies and the Ha Noi authorities, and 100 overseas Vietnamese (OVs), held an incense-offering ceremony at the statue of King Ly Thai To and Ngoc Son Temple in downtown Ha Noi in the morning of February 8 (the 20th day of the final lunar month of the Year of the Snake).

Nguyen Van Duoc, Deputy Secretary of the municipal Party Committee and Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee, attributed the southern metropolis’s socio-economic development achievements partly to important contributions by OV entrepreneurs, scientists, experts, and intellectuals worldwide through investment activities, knowledge transfer, market connection, and promotion of the city’s image.

Philip Fernandez, a member of the Communist Party of Canada (Marxist–Leninist), spoke highly of the significance, vision and major orientations of the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Viet Nam (CPV), describing it as an important event not only for Viet Nam’s socio-political life but also for the overseas Vietnamese (OV) community.

The Homeland Spring 2026 programme is set to take place from February 6–9 in Ha Noi and Ninh Binh, featuring a wide range of meaningful activities rich in national cultural identity and reflecting Viet Nam’s vision and development aspirations in a new era.

Following the conclusion of the successful 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Viet Nam (CPV), overseas Vietnamese (OVs) and foreign experts have shared a strong sense of confidence and renewed expectations, voicing firm belief that the country will continue to advance steadily on its development path in a new era.

Following the 14th National Party Congress, an overseas Vietnamese in Thailand has shared his aspirations and desire to contribute to the cause of national construction and development, helping to successfully realise the goals set by the Party in the new era.

The 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Viet Nam (CPV) had, by January 19, received a total of 559 letters and messages of congratulations from 109 political parties, six international and regional organisations, 16 individuals, 122 people’s organisations, and 306 associations of overseas Vietnamese (OV).

In the new development context, properly recognising and promoting the role of overseas Vietnamese is key to driving innovation and sustainable growth, according to Dr Tran Hai Linh, member of the Central Committee of the Viet Nam Fatherland Front and Chairman of the Viet Nam-Korea Businessmen and Investment Association (VKBIA).

The 14th National Party Congress is expected not only to define Viet Nam’s internal development orientations but also to position the country in a rapidly changing and unpredictable international environment, thereby consolidating national standing, strengthening strategic autonomy and promoting selective international integration.

The Homeland 2026 Spring programme, themed “Viet Nam’s Aspiration: Peace and Prosperity”, will be held on February 8 in Ha Noi, according to the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

With the participation of nearly 100 overseas Vietnamese golfers from 12 countries, the 8th Worldwide Overseas Vietnamese Golf Championship is taking place from January 4 to 6, 2026, promising to deliver lively and compelling competition while also helping to strengthen solidarity within the global Vietnamese community.

The Vietnamese Party and State have consistently created appropriate platforms for overseas Vietnamese (OV) to contribute their intellect and experience to major national affairs, a Vietnamese scholar in Germany has said, highlighting the growing role of the OV in the country’s development.

The collection of public feedback, including from overseas Vietnamese (OVs), on the draft documents for the 14th National Party Congress reflects the consistent view that Vietnamese expatriates are an inseparable part of the nation, according to Dr Nguyen Thai Chinh, a specialist in earth science and satellite geodesy and a member of the Viet Nam–Germany Innovation Network (VGI).

The Party and State's proactive efforts to collect feedback from overseas Vietnamese on draft documents of the 14th National Party Congress, constitutional amendments, and the formulation of major resolutions and laws represent the country’s “important step forward that demonstrates strategic vision and proactive governance,” reflecting renewed thinking in people-to-people diplomacy and the policy of great national unity.

The achievements recorded in the implementation of the Politburo’s Resolution No.36-NQ/TW on work related to overseas Vietnamese (Resolution No.36) have provided a solid foundation for introducing breakthrough solutions in this field in the coming period.

Resolution No. 36-NQ/TW on OVs affairs has provided a strong political foundation and legal framework enabling OVs to develop, integrate, and contribute to their host countries while maintaining close ties with the homeland.
