The Tay Ninh Starch Association and the Cambodia Cassava Federation jointly held a conference promoting trade cooperation between the two sides on December 3.
Speaking at the event, Deputy Director of Tay Ninh’s Department of Agriculture and Environment Nguyen Dang Xuan noted that two-way trade between Tay Ninh enterprises and the Cambodian market has continued to grow steadily. In the first ten months of 2025, bilateral import–export turnover reached 2.6 billion USD, while border residents’ cross-border trade exceeded 1.7 trillion VND (64.47 million USD).
Tây Ninh currently operates more than 60 large-scale starch-processing factories, supported by 60,000 hectares of cassava fields with an average yield of 33.3 tonnes per hectare, meeting around 25% of factory demand.
Cambodia, meanwhile, has abundant cassava output and requires a stable, reliable market. Tay Ninh has signed cross-border transport agreements with three Cambodian provinces, helping ensure that raw cassava—from harvesting and storage to processing—reaches factories as quickly as possible.
The conference plays a crucial role in securing consumption of fresh cassava for Cambodian farmers, stabilising raw-material supplies for Vietnamese processors, and laying the foundation for upgrading the cassava value chain.
To ensure that cooperation agreements translate effectively into commercial contracts, Deputy Director Nguyen Dang Xuan called on the Tay Ninh Starch Association, the Cambodia Cassava Federation and businesses from both sides to respect their memoranda of understanding, prioritise sustainability and ensure mutual benefit.
During the conference, the two associations signed several memoranda of understanding to promote sustainable cassava production, expand bilateral trade and safeguard the interests of growers through deeper cooperation and mutual understanding.
