Accordingly, three Vietnamese cable car routes in the list honoured by Travel + Leisure are located in Phu Quoc (An Giang), Nha Trang (Khanh Hoa) and Da Nang.

Comparing cable cars to a melody, Travel + Leisure noted that what makes them special is not the destination but the journey suspended in mid-air. The works included in the ranking must meet criteria such as the uniqueness of natural landscapes, the complexity of construction techniques, and the ability to provide visitors with panoramic views from above.

Topping the ranking is the Hon Thom cable car, connecting An Thoi Ward with Hon Thom Island, carrying visitors across crystal-clear waters to admire the fishing villages of the Phu Quoc special zone. This route has been recognised as one of the world’s longest over-sea cable car systems, with a total length of nearly 8 km. The mid-air journey is considered an experience not to be missed when visiting the Pearl Island.

Following in the ranking, the Ba Na Hills cable car in Da Nang is placed fifth. Visitors remember the journey for its majestic mountain scenery seen through the cabin windows and the impressive changes in altitude.

Travel + Leisure described the Ba Na cable car experience as a journey through dense primeval forests and rugged peaks before reaching the cool climate on the summit of Mount Chua. The trip through the clouds offers a dramatic transition, taking travellers from the coastal heat into a temperate space where four seasons can be felt in a single day.

Another Vietnamese representative is the Vinpearl cable car in Nha Trang, ranked 11th. The over-sea cable car connects the mainland with Hon Tre Island, home to a large-scale entertainment and resort complex. From dozens of metres above the sea, visitors can enjoy a panoramic view of Nha Trang Bay.

The list by Travel + Leisure also includes many notable cable car routes across Asia, such as the Dagu Glacier cable car in Sichuan (China), the Ngong Ping 360 cable car system in Hong Kong (China), Langkawi SkyCab cable car route (Malaysia), the Singapore Cable Car, and Namsan Cable Car (Republic of Korea).

The presence of three Vietnamese cable car routes among the most spectacular ones in Asia shows the increasing appeal of the country’s tourism products. Cable cars are no longer just a means of transport but have become highlights that attract visitors, helping promote the Vietnamese tourism brand on the world map.
