Work began on the VND400 billion (US$19 million) project in February 2012 and includes an aircraft bay that stretches over 30,000 square metres that can house three A321 planes.
Meanwhile, a 4,000-square-metre terminal has been added and is capable of serving 300 passengers per hour during peak time. It is designed to comfortably welcome 550,000 passengers per year.
Tuy Hoa Airport, 5 km south of Phu Yen downtown, is expected to receive 70,000 passengers in 2013, a year-on-year increase of 10 percent.
