Uncle Ho’s Prison Diary recognised as National Treasure

Nhan Dan/VNA – The collection of poems by President Ho Chi Minh entitled ‘Prison Diary’ has been recognised as a National Treasure of Vietnam, according to the Prime Minister’s Decision No. 1426/QĐ-TTg, which was approved on October 1.

Another 29 artifacts and collections, chosen earlier by the National Heritage Committee from among 90 nominated items, were also honoured with the title under the decision.

Uncle Ho’s ‘Duong Kach Menh’ (Revolutionary Road), ‘Loi Keu Goi Toan Quoc Khang Chien’ (Calling for National Resistance) and his testament are featured on the list, along with cultural antiquities from the Champa, Dong Son, and Oc Eo cultures, and the Ly (1009-1225), Tran (1226-1400), Le So (1428-1527) Tay Son (1778-1802) and Nguyen (1802-1945) dynasties.

Also honoured as National Treasures are military weapons related to historical milestones in the national resistance wars against the French and the US, including an anti-aircraft gun used in the 1954 Dien Bien Phu campaign, a MiG-21 F96 aircraft that joined the Dien Bien Phu On Air battle in 1972, and two tanks that took part in the Ho Chi Minh campaign in 1975.
