The Vice President, along with the working delegation and other officials, offered incense at the Monument dedicated to heroic martyrs, the People’s Armed Forces, and youth volunteers who sacrificed their lives along Route 1C. She also presented 90 gifts to Heroic Vietnamese Mothers, policy beneficiary families, impoverished households, and disadvantaged children in Giang Thanh District.
Speaking at the event, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan expressed deep sentiments for the borderland of Giang Thanh, a place where many officers, soldiers, and civilians have heroically sacrificed blood and sweat throughout various periods to achieve glorious victories during the resistance wars against the French, the Americans, and in the Southwestern border war, with nearly 1,300 martyrs having fallen along the legendary Route 1C.

Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan speaks at the gift-giving ceremony in Giang Thanh District. |
The Vice President emphasised that 2025 is the final year of the current term and a particularly important one. The Party and State have laid out critical guidelines and resolutions for national development. The target is to accelerate economic growth to 8% in 2025, laying the groundwork for the next term to achieve double-digit growth. Notably, one of the most crucial tasks, referred to by the Central Government as “historic resolutions”, is streamlining and restructuring the administrative apparatus, including merging administrative boundaries to create new conditions for national development as the country enters a new era.
Therefore, the Vice President urged Kien Giang Province to thoroughly implement the major policies of the Party and State, especially the 11th Party Central Committee’s Resolution. She also expressed hope that the province would implement these policies practically and effectively, closely aligned with local realities, noting that these policies directly impact not only the political system and cadres but also the people.
She called on Kian Giang to coordinate with An Giang in organising and structuring the new provincial apparatus, effectively leveraging the social human resource pool, and creating a collective strength for local development. She also stressed the need for balanced and sustainable development, promoting the strengths and potential of each locality, while successfully carrying out national defence and security tasks in the new context.
The Vice President also asked Kien Giang to coordinate with the government and central agencies in preparing for the organisation of the APEC 2027 Summit, showcasing Vietnam’s role and position on the international stage.
