The competition is a large-scale annual information and communications technology (ICT) competition organised by Huawei Group for university and academy students worldwide who are passionate about information and communications technology.
The global final was held from June 2-5, with the participation of more than 500 outstanding contestants of 170 teams from over 40 countries and territories. Participants competed in categories related to leading-edge fields such as computer networking, cloud computing, AI and big data.
At this year’s global final, Viet Nam was represented by two teams comprising six contestants. The delegation included five students from the Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology and one student from FPT University.
According to the final results, the VN.FPTIT team, consisting of Duong Van Hiep, Bui Anh Duc, and Nguyen Minh Toan from the Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology and FPT University, won first prize in the Computing Track category. Meanwhile, the ProPTIT team, including Han Huu Dang, Tran Hai Long, and Bui The Vinh Nguyen from the Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology, won second prize in the Cloud Track category.
Speaking to Nhan Dan Newspaper, contestant Bui The Vinh Nguyen from the Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology said that
the competition provided Vietnamese students with an opportunity to exchange experiences and compete with peers from around the world, while also giving them access to the latest technology platforms, solutions and advanced integrated ecosystems in China.
Nguyen Minh Hien, a representative of Huawei Viet Nam, which accompanied the contestants, said the national round in Viet Nam began at the end of 2025, attracting more than 400 contestants from many major universities across the country. Following the online competition in three categories, nine outstanding contestants were selected to compete in the regional final round in Indonesia.
This year, Vietnamese teams made a remarkable impression as all three participating teams won awards at the regional final round. In particular, Vietnamese students brought home two Grand Prizes for the first time in the key categories of Cloud Track and Computing Track, marking Viet Nam’s highest achievement since joining the competition.
As part of the competition, the AI summit on promoting educational transformation was held on June 5. The summit discussed the role of artificial intelligence in promoting global educational reform and innovation, while also sharing practices in integrating education and advanced industry.
