The Department of Digital Transformation under the Government Office is working with a delegation of French experts to exchange experience and explore new areas of cooperation from October 5 to 9.
Nguyen Cong Thanh, Deputy Director of the department, said Viet Nam had made breakthroughs in digital transformation after completing numerous tasks under its “100-day” campaign. A key development has been the shift from decentralised systems operated by localities to centralised processing by ministries and sectors and through the National Public Service Portal, enabling local authorities to make more effective use of data.
Thanh also spoke highly of cooperation with France since June 2026, including support from French experts and training for Government Office officials at France’s National Institute of Public Service (INSP).
He highlighted the connection with prominent Vietnamese-origin experts in France, including Professor and Doctor of Science Nguyen Van Tam, Head of the Department of Computer Science, Data and Artificial Intelligence at Institut Polytechnique de Paris (IP Paris).
The two sides are also preparing a semiconductor technology training course at the University of Science and Technology of Ha Noi (USTH), with Vietnamese ministries and agencies expected to nominate participants.
Romain Busuttil, Deputy Counsellor for Cooperation and Cultural Affairs at the French Embassy in Viet Nam, said digital transformation cooperation symbolised the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two countries.
France stands ready to share its experience in areas including high-speed rail and human resource training, he said.
The two sides also discussed plans for a study programme in France on public data governance, AI ethics, digital government, user experience and cybersecurity.
