This year’s event has drawn the participation of 280 businesses including leading global companies from 25 countries and territories such as the United States, France, Germany, and Italy, in addition to Japan, India, and the Republic of Korea, among others.
On display across 350 booths are the latest pharmaceutical products, medical equipment, diagnostic equipment, laboratory items and healthcare services.
The annual event creates a platform for global medical technologies and equipment companies to access local private and public hospitals and local pharmacy companies.
The popular annual event takes place twice a year: in Ho Chi Minh City in August and Hanoi in December.
According to Hua Phu Doan, vice president and general secretary of Ho Chi Minh City Medical Equipment Association, Vietnam has been an emerging and attractive destination for foreign investors, particularly pharmacy and medical equipment companies.
According to estimates, revenue from the domestic medical equipment market reaches US$800 million every year, and is expected to reach US$1.2 billion this year and US$1.8 billion in 2018. The average growth will be 18-20% between 2016 and 2020.
The expo will run until August 13.
