Vietnamese and Thai localities promote cooperation

On the afternoon of August 9, a delegation from the Vietnamese Embassy in Thailand led by Ambassador Pham Viet Hung, had a working session with leaders and representatives of departments and agencies of Udon Thani Province, more than 500 km northeast of Bangkok.

At the meeting, Deputy Governor of Udon Thani Province Nathapol Withee introduced the potential and economy of the province, which is the centre of road and air traffic connection of the northeastern region of Thailand with Laos, Cambodia, China and Vietnam.

He affirmed that Udon Thani is one of the provinces with the largest number of people of Vietnamese origin in Thailand and they have contributed significantly to the province's development.

He noted, that Udon Thani is also a province that has attracted many Vietnamese students to study and research at the province's educational institutions.

For his part, Ambassador Pham Viet Hung emphasised the friendly relationship between Vietnam and Thailand, affirming that Vietnam always considers Thailand one of the leading partners in ASEAN. He thanked the provincial administration for creating favourable conditions supporting and helping Thai people of Vietnamese origin to live and do business here.

The Ambassador said the potential for cooperation between Vietnam and Thailand has great possibilities and expressed his hope that Udon Thani will pay attention to and promote cooperation with the localities of Vietnam.

He added that the Vietnamese Embassy in Thailand is ready to support, help remove difficulties, and create a bridge for Udon Thani to soon sign cooperation agreements with Vietnamese localities, including Thai Nguyen Province.

On the same afternoon, Ambassador Pham Viet Hung visited and worked with the leaders of Udon Thani Rajabhat University, and visited the Centre for Vietnamese Studies on the campus of the University.
