In his address, Vietnamese Ambassador to China Pham Thanh Binh emphasised that the August Revolution and National Day stand as historic milestones of great significance.

Over the past 80 years of struggle for independence and national development, Viet Nam has steadfastly pursued an independent, self-reliant, peaceful, and friendly foreign policy, while promoting cooperation, multilateralisation, and diversification of external relations.

The country has taken a proactive and active approach to international integration, being a friend, a reliable partner, and a responsible member of the international community.

Ambassador Pham Thanh Binh stated that, under the leadership of the Communist Party of Viet Nam, the nation is advancing firmly towards modernisation, continuing comprehensive reforms and determined to make breakthroughs across multiple sectors, laying a strong foundation to enter a new era — a period of national resurgence — in building a prosperous, strong, democratic, fair, and civilised socialist Viet Nam. He stressed that alongside the tireless efforts of generations of Vietnamese people, Viet Nam has also received valuable support from international friends, including China.

The ambassador affirmed that Viet Nam–China relations have in recent times maintained positive momentum and have been comprehensively strengthened under the orientation of the “six betters.” Close high-level exchanges and interactions have been a highlight of the bilateral relationship, particularly the reciprocal visits of General Secretary and President To Lam in August 2024 and General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping in April 2025. For the first time in the history of bilateral ties, there were almost simultaneous visits by three key leaders from the two countries — President Luong Cuong, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, and Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress Zhao Leji — to attend major commemorative and multilateral events in each country in late August and early September, demonstrating the mutual respect and support between the two nations.

On the occasion, Ambassador Pham Thanh Binh expressed his deep gratitude to the Chinese Party, State, and people as well as international friends for their support, assistance, cooperation, and solidarity with Viet Nam throughout its historical journey.

He reiterated that Viet Nam considers consolidating and developing stable and healthy relations with China as a strategic choice and a top priority. He voiced the wish to work with China to further deepen the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership and to promote the building of a Viet Nam–China community with a shared future of high strategic significance, delivering tangible and long-term benefits to the peoples of both countries.

Prior to the ceremony, Ambassador Pham Thanh Binh held talks with Zhang Qingwei, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of China. On behalf of the Chinese Party, State, and people, Zhang extended congratulations on the important national celebration of the Vietnamese Party, State, and people.

Zhang expressed delight at Viet Nam’s outstanding development achievements over the past 80 years and noted that 2025 holds special significance in bilateral ties as the two countries celebrate the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations, launch the Year of People-to-People Exchanges, and maintain regular high-level contacts. He stressed that the participation of top leaders of both sides in each other’s major events reflects the importance and mutual respect placed on the relationship.

He further highlighted that over the past 75 years, under the strategic guidance of the top leaders of the two parties and states, the Viet Nam–China relationship — fostered by Chairman Mao Zedong and President Ho Chi Minh and nurtured by the revolutionary forerunners of both nations — has entered a new era of building a high-level community with a shared future of strategic significance.

China, he affirmed, stands ready to work with Viet Nam to fully implement the common understandings of the two parties’ top leaders, organise celebrations marking the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations, advance comprehensive strategic cooperation under the orientation of the “six betters,” and contribute to building a Viet Nam–China community with a shared future as well as to the socialist modernisation cause of both countries.

In a warm atmosphere of friendship and “comradeship and brotherhood,” guests attended a photo exhibition showcasing the land and people of Viet Nam, visited displays of prominent Vietnamese brands, enjoyed a cultural performance, and sampled traditional Vietnamese dishes at the Vietnamese food pavilion.

Also on September 19, in Pathum Thani Province, more than 40 kilometres north of Bangkok, the Thai–Vietnamese Association of Bangkok and Surrounding Areas held a solemn ceremony marking the 80th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Việt Nam (2 September 1945 – 2 September 2025). The event gathered around 200 members of the Vietnamese community living in the Thai capital and nearby provinces.

Speaking at the ceremony, Do Xuan Phuc, Chairman of the Thai–Vietnamese Association of Bangkok and Surrounding Areas, emphasised that in a sacred, joyful and pride-filled atmosphere, the overseas Vietnamese community in Bangkok and its vicinity had come together in unity to commemorate the 80th anniversary of Viet Nam’s National Day.

He recalled that generations of overseas Vietnamese had faithfully followed the Party and President Ho Chi Minh, turning their homes, pagodas, and fields into a steadfast rear base for the revolution. Many families devoted their entire lives to the cause of national liberation, considering Viet Nam their ultimate homeland and following Uncle Ho their greatest source of pride. These silent sacrifices, he affirmed, made significant contributions to the glorious victories of the Vietnamese revolution, paving the way for today’s independent, unified, and resilient nation on the international stage.
