Vinh Long develops river tourism associated with preserving traditional pottery village

The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vinh Long Province coordinated with Focus Travel Group to organise a seminar on developing river tourism associated with preserving and promoting the economic, cultural and social values of the traditional brick and pottery village of Mang Thit on September 28.

Researchers, travellers, local authorities and delegates shared information about some experiences of countries that have successfully developed tourism services associated with rivers and traditional craft villages.

It affirmed that the decisive factors for the success of river tourism are natural conditions and the contributions, support, and investment of the government, businesses, and local people.

Nguyen Thanh Tam, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Mang Thit District Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Council of Mang Thit District, provided more information about the locality's efforts in preserving and conserving the Mang Thit brick and pottery village in the past time.

The seminar aimed to link cultural development with tourism development in Mang Thit, orienting tourism to become an important economic sector of the locality, protecting and preserving cultural resources and the environment for future generations; at the same time, develop tourism in Mang Thit ceramic and brick village associated with preserving, promoting and fostering sustainable development in the new context.
