International searches for Vietnam hotels increase by 139%

Lunar New Year 2025 (Tet) has marked remarkable growth in domestic tourism, international travel, and inbound tourism to Vietnam.

According to data collected on the online travel platform Agoda, Vietnam continues to be a highly attractive destination for international tourists during the Tet holiday.

Searches for accommodations from international visitors increased by 139% compared to the same period last year. Notably, searches from Chinese travelers surged nearly 300%, signaling positive momentum toward Vietnam’s goal of welcoming 22 million international tourists in 2025.

Phu Quoc emerged as the top destination for international tourists in 2025, with accommodation searches soaring by 266% compared to 2024.

Besides China, there was also significant growth in accommodation searches from travelers in the Republic of Korea (RoK) and Taiwan, which rose by 94% and 123%, respectively.

Domestically, Da Lat, Nha Trang, and Phan Thiet continued to solidify their positions as top destinations, with searches increasing by 167%, 88%, and 89%, respectively.

For outbound tourism, popular international destinations for Vietnamese travelers included Bangkok, Tokyo, and Singapore. Tokyo, in particular, recorded a 193% increase in searches, surpassing Bali as the favourite destination for this Tet holiday.

The results are based on accommodation search data collected from November 27 to December 21, 2024, for stays between January 25 and February 2, 2025.
