General Secretary and President To Lam sent a letter to the workshop.

The workshop featured the participation of 350 delegates who are scientists; researchers; leaders of departments, ministries, and branches; local leaders; and leaders and managers within the political system.

In his opening speech at the workshop, Politburo member Nguyen Xuan Thang, President of the HCMA and Chairman of the Central Theory Council, highlighted the country's achievements. After nearly 40 years of implementing the Doi Moi (Renewal) process, Vietnam has risen from a poor and backward country to become a middle-income country.

Basic human rights such as the right to healthcare, the right to education, social security, democratic freedoms in the political field, freedom of religion and belief, freedom of the press, and access to information have all made remarkable progress.

Overview of the workshop

The organising committee of the workshop received 75 presentations from scientists, leaders of departments, ministries, branches and localities. The workshop had two sessions including presentations and speeches and a roundtable discussion session.

The presentations and many opinions presented at the workshop delved into clarifying theoretical issues on viewpoints and approaches that place people as the centre, subject, goals and driving force of national development; theoretical viewpoints of Marxism-Leninism, Ho Chi Minh Thought, and the Communist Party of Vietnam; approaches of the International Union; and experiences of some countries in the world.

From the elaborate and dedicated research, in the papers sent to the Organising Committee of the Conference, scientists, researchers, and managers proposed solutions to promote the role and value of human rights in realising the viewpoint of placing people as the centre, subject, goal, and driving force of national development in order to strongly evoke the aspiration to develop a prosperous and happy country in the new era, the era of the Vietnamese people's rise.

The workshop was a practical activity, suggesting a number of theoretical issues and practical summary results, contributing to the construction of draft documents for the 14th National Party Congress; continuing to perfect the theory on the path of innovation as well as Socialism and the path to Socialism in Vietnam in the new era.
