In his opening speech, VNBA Secretary General - Dr. Nguyen Quoc Hung noted with pleasure that digital transformation in Vietnam’s banking sector has witnessed positive results over the past recent years.
Accordingly, non-cash payment transactions increased by 50.14% in the first two months of this year; in which, via the internet increased by 90.21% and 10.01% in volume and in value, respectively; via mobile increased by 60.29% and 13.89% respectively; and via QR code increased by 142.06% and 49.42% over the same period in 2022.
The country’s Fintech market has also made notable strides thanks to the strong adoption of digital protocols in business, the boom of the e-commerce industry, and the Government’s determination to promote digital payments, he stressed.
He cited the global Fintech Centre Rankings 2021, in which Vietnam's Fintech score ranks 70th in the world. In the Asia-Pacific region, Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi were ranked 28th and 33rd, respectively.
