The 2026 St. Petersburg International Economic Forum saw the signing of more than 1,080 agreements worth about 6.6 trillion rubles (89.6 billion USD), a forum official said Saturday.

* The Republic of Korean President Lee Jae Myung on Sunday nominated Han Seong-sook as prime minister, the presidential office announced. Han, a former chief executive of the Republic of Korean internet giant Naver, has served as Minister of SMEs and Startups since the launch of Lee's administration.

* Voting began on Sunday in Armenia's parliamentary elections, with more than 2.48 million registered voters eligible to cast ballots at 2,005 polling stations across the country. Polling stations opened at 8:00 a.m. local time (0400 GMT) and will close at 8:00 p.m. local time.

* The U.S. military said it shot down two Iranian drones after they allegedly threatened traffic in the Strait of Hormuz on Saturday. CENTCOM said on Friday that U.S. forces had intercepted multiple ballistic missiles and drones launched by Iran toward the Strait of Hormuz and Gulf neighbors.

* Russian air defense forces downed 339 Ukrainian fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) over a 13-hour period, the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement on Saturday.

* Ukraine's state-run nuclear energy operator Energoatom on Sunday accused Russia of attacking its spent nuclear fuel storage facility near the disused Chornobyl power plant.

* Bangladesh and Turkey have agreed to establish a ministerial-level joint committee as part of efforts to deepen bilateral political and defense ties. The decision was announced following a meeting between Bangladeshi Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan in Dhaka on Saturday.

* Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said on Sunday that the government is pursuing a comprehensive strategy to strengthen food security, improve food safety and enhance agricultural productivity in the country.

* Myanmar exported 305,821 tons of rice and broken rice in the first two months of the current fiscal year 2026-27, which began in April, according to the Myanmar Rice Federation on Sunday.
