The inclusion was announced in Bac Giang on February 14 at an event to open the festival.

Xuong Giang was a decisive victory that forced Chinese Ming troops to withdraw from Vietnam, ending 20 years of Ming rule and opening a new period in the country’s history.

In his opening speech, Chairman of Bac Giang City Dang Dinh Hoan noted that the Xuong Giang Festival represents the cultural identity and traditional culture of Bac Giang.

The site of the Xuong Giang Victory was recognised as a national historical site in 2009 and a special national historical site in 2019, while the festival to celebrate the victory was listed as a national intangible cultural heritage in late 2023.
