1,000 female workers provided knowledge on early childhood healthcare

The Vietnam General Confederation of Labour in coordination with the Ministry of Health, organised a workshop themed “Early childhood development: Using scientific evidence to promote policy and practice in Vietnam”.

This is an activity within the framework of the positive parenting skills education programme for workers in industrial parks and manufacturing areas.

The workshop aimed to discuss interdisciplinary cooperation plans to promote the replication of initiatives on comprehensive early childhood development in Vietnam, especially initiatives for children of workers in industrial parks and manufacturing areas; and sharing methods of building applied scientific evidence for intervention projects, to promote policy and practice.

At the workshop Prof. Jane Fisher and MSc. Yeji Baek from Monash University presented the impact and cost-effective results of the online and in-person positive parenting training programme; the transformation of the model of comprehensive early childhood development and the positive impacts on a country when the issue of comprehensive early childhood development is comprehensively invested, in terms of finance, policy and human resources.

Also at the workshop, experts discussed the necessary and sufficient criteria for the government to replicate the model, inter-sectoral coordination, as well as priorities in Vietnam's actions to promote early childhood development.
