3D cartoon to be shown for orphans in Hanoi

Nhan Dan – Orphans living in the Birla and SOS Children’s Villages in Hanoi will have the chance to enjoy Steven Spielberg’s Golden Globe Award winning animated film ‘The Adventures of Tintin’ at Megestar cinema complexes in Hanoi on May 26.

The screening is organised by the Belgian embassy in Vietnam as one event to mark the 40th anniversary of Vietnam-Belgium diplomatic ties (1973-2013).

The 3D motion computer-animated adventure film, based on the comics by Belgian cartoonist Hergé, features the adventures of the young journalist Tintin and his brave dog Snowy in their search for a unicorn and a 17th century sunken treasure ship. The film won Best Animated Feature Film at the 69th Golden Globe Awards.

‘The Adventures of Tintin’ series by Herge (1907-1983) is one of the most popular 20th century European comic book series. The main character, Tintin, embarks on a series of adventures to Africa, China, India, Latin America and Eastern Europe, where he fights the bad guys and stands up for the weak and children.

The series has been translated into 50 languages with more than 200 million copies sold around the world.

The film was previously screened free of charge for orphanages in Hai Phong and Ho Chi Minh City on May 19.
