The project, funded by the EU through the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Vietnam, will be implemented from 2022 to 2026 in the districts of Dak Long and Dak R’lap in Dak Nong Province, and districts Di Linh and Lac Duong in Lam Dong Province.
By 2026, it targets to protect 25,000 hectares of natural forest; reduce harmful CO2 emissions by three million tonnes; enable 35 percent of the project area’s marginalised populations in both provinces to benefit from improved livelihoods, especially women and ethnic minorities; and increase the total value of commodities in the project area by 25 percent.
The project’s results will then be replicated and integrated into Vietnam’s development strategies and policies.
