5th International Experimental Theatre Festival closes

The 5th International Experimental Theatre Festival officially concluded in Hanoi on November 26.

The 12-day show introduced 19 plays of different genres such as drama, cai luong (reformed theatre), puppetry, and circus, with the participation of 15 domestic and 4 foreign troupes, from Italy, Poland, Singapore and the Republic of Korea.

At the closing ceremony, one special prize, four gold medals and five silver medals were presented to the most outstanding plays.

According to People’s Artist Trinh Thuy Mui, President of the Vietnam Stage Artists’ Association, the festival aims to improve art quality as well as encourage innovation and creativity in theatre art in the country, adding that experiential theatre will contribute to meeting the tastes of audiences in the integration process.

Co-organised by the Vietnam Stage Artists' Association and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism’s Performing Arts Department, the first, second, third, and fourth editions of the festival were held in Vietnam in 2002, 2006, 2016, and 2019, respectively.
