In the border commune of Thang Tin, the “Spring Border Guard Program: Warming the Hearts of the People” and the “Binh Ngo Charity Fair” organised by the Tuyen Quang Provincial Red Cross in coordination with provincial departments and agencies donated nearly 1,000 gifts to policy beneficiary families and households with particularly difficult circumstances, and more than 250 warm jackets to the people.
The health sector organised health check-ups, consultations, and free medicine distribution for the people. Nguyen Viet Tuan, Chairman of the People’s Committee of Thang Tin commune, said that the programme not only helped people in the commune have better conditions to celebrate Tet, but also serves as a great source of encouragement, giving people more motivation to strive in life and stay attached to the borderland of the Fatherland.
In Kim Binh commune, the Tuyen Quang Provincial Military Command, in coordination with the Vietnam Seed Fund, Nhan Dan Newspaper, and several agencies, departments, and businesses, organised the programme “Spring of Solidarity - A Warm Tet for the Military and the People”.
At the programme, the organisers presented 364 gift packages, each worth 600,000 VND, to policy beneficiary families, families in difficult circumstances, poor students who excelled academically, and young people who successfully completed their military service.
Le Anh Tuan, Vice Chairman of the Kim Binh Commune People’s Committee, said that the Tet gifts presented in the programme demonstrated the deep concern of agencies, units, and businesses for the people; encouraging the people of this land rich in revolutionary traditions to continue striving to build a prosperous and strong homeland.
Receiving Tet gifts from the programme, Phan Van Chuyen, a victim of Agent Orange in Khuon Ngu village, Kim Binh commune, shared: “I am very happy because the gifts from the programme have helped my family have a fulfilling Tet. The programme has many meaningful activities, helping people feel more cheerful as they enter the new year with much joy.”
All communes and wards in Tuyen Quang province have proactively reviewed policy beneficiaries, poor families, and families with particularly difficult circumstances to develop support plans. Along with support from the state budget, authorities at all levels have mobilised resources from organisations, businesses, and individuals to provide Tet gifts for these groups.
To date, approximately 100,000 households in the province have received Tet gifts from various levels, sectors, and benefactors, totaling nearly 50 billion VND. In addition, communes and wards have basically completed the distribution of 729 tons of rice to nearly 13,000 households with over 48,000 people from the national rice reserve.
In Quang Tri province, Nhan Dan Newspaper, in coordination with the Viet Nam Fatherland Front Committee of the province, and the provincial newspapers, radio, and television stations, distributed 3,000 gift packages worth 1.8 billion VND to poor households and those in difficult circumstances in the area. Each gift package was worth 600,000 VND, including 500,000 VND in cash.
These gifts were donated to poor households during Tet by the Quang Tri branch of Nhan Dan Newspaper, mobilised from the Vingroup Charity Fund. Truong Thi Thinh, residing in Group 1, Dong Thuan Ward, emotionally stated: “I am very happy to be invited by the ward to receive Tet gifts. This gift helps my family prepare for Tet more fully.”
The Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Viet Nam Fatherland Front Committee of Quang Tri Province, Nguyen Chien Thang, affirmed: The Party and State always care for the poor, especially during Tet.
This year, the province organised the “Connecting Hands of Compassion” programme, mobilising over 56 billion VND to support more than 34,500 poor and near-poor households. “The joint efforts of Nhan Dan Newspaper are very practical, contributing to spreading the spirit of compassion in the community,” he emphasised.
Tet is a time for family reunions, but for those suffering from serious illnesses who have to undergo treatment throughout Tet, that dream is very distant. Sharing this sentiment with patients, agencies, socio-political organisations, and charitable groups have carried out many activities to donate gifts and organise Tet celebrations at hospitals for patients.
The Board of Directors K Hospital’s Tan Trieu branch (Thanh Liet ward, Ha Noi) and sponsors organised a “Spring Flower Street” and a “Zero-Cost Fair,” a rural market space. The fair had 13 stalls distributing 3,000 gifts to patients. Masterise Group alone donated gifts worth 230 million VND to underprivileged child patients. K Hospital also collaborated with philanthropists to organise a year-end meal at its Tan Trieu facility.
Nguyen Thi Hue, mother of Nguyen Thi Ngoc Anh, born in 2011, from Lang Son province, who is undergoing treatment for a brain tumor, couldn’t hide her emotion, saying: “My family has faced many difficulties, especially since Anh’s father recently passed away and my daughter has to undergo long-term treatment. Thanks to the kind care of the doctors and nurses and the Tet gifts, my daughter and I have more strength to fight the disease together.” Besides the Tan Trieu facility, K Hospital’s facilities in Quan Su and Tam Hiep also have many other meaningful activities.
At the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion, Tuoi Tre Newspaper, Queen Land Real Estate Trading and Services Joint Stock Company, and the hospital’s leadership organised the programme to present Tet gifts and New Year’s lucky money to pediatric patients undergoing treatment.
Bui Thi Duyen, mother of Nguyen Duc Huy, who is being treated in the Pediatric Hematology Department, shared: “While being treated at the hospital, the children always receive attentive care from the doctors and medical staff. These meaningful activities during Tet have boosted the spirits of the children and their families.”
Leaders and representatives from the Ha Noi Department of Health also organised numerous delegations, coordinating with philanthropists to donate Tet gifts to the Ha Noi Rehabilitation Hospital (Hoa Binh Thanh Xuan Village), Social Welfare Center 3, Birla Children’s Village, and SOS Children’s Village. While the gifts may not be substantial in material value, they are filled with love and contribute to helping vulnerable people have a joyful and warm Tet holiday.
