Under the plan, the Red Cross system nationwide is striving to deliver around 1.5 million Tet gift packages, each valued at no less than 500,000 VND (19 USD). The packages will include both cash and essential goods and will be distributed to people with disabilities, elderly people without family support, orphans, individuals facing exceptional hardship, and communities affected by natural disasters.
The total value of resources mobilised and distributed is expected to reach at least 750 billion VND (28.5 million USD).
At central level, the Viet Nam Red Cross will organise at least 10 major “Tet of Compassion” programmes, each providing 1,000 gift packages worth a minimum of 1 million VND (38 USD) per package. These events will be held in localities that suffered serious socio-economic impacts and natural disasters in 2025, including Da Nang, Thai Nguyen, Bac Ninh, Dak Lak, Gia Lai, Khanh Hoa, Hue, Ninh Binh, Quang Ngai and Lam Dong.
At provincial level, each Red Cross chapter will organise at least one programme, distributing a minimum of 500 gift packages valued from 500,000 VND each.
A key new feature in 2026 is the introduction of a “Tet of Compassion” week at commune level, taking place from February 2 to 9, 2026. Activities will include gift-giving, Tet visits, community Tet markets, traditional games and cultural events, helping to foster a warm and inclusive festive atmosphere.
Running from January 26 to February 10, 2026, the campaign reaffirms the Viet Nam Red Cross’s leading role in humanitarian work and the nation’s tradition of solidarity, ensuring that everyone can welcome Tet in safety and dignity.
