Air passenger traffic reaches 1.68 million during holidays

During the holidays of the Hung Kings’ Commemoration Day, the 51st anniversary of Liberation of the South and National Reunification, and May Day (from April 25 to 27 and April 30 to May 3), total transport output of the aviation market reached 1.68 million passengers and 27.45 thousand tonnes of cargo, up 2.2% in passenger volume and 7.2% in cargo compared with the same period last year, the Civil Aviation Authority of Viet Nam reported on May 3.

Of the total, domestic transport reached 675.14 thousand passengers and 3.4 thousand tonnes of cargo (down 7.5% in passengers and 11.6% in cargo), while international transport exceeded 1 million passengers and 24 thousand tonnes of cargo (up 10% in passengers and 10.6% in cargo).

Total operations at airports reached 14,924 take-offs and landings, with 2.35 million passengers and 30.85 thousand tonnes of cargo handled, representing increases of 2.9% in flight take-offs and landings, a decrease of 0.8% in passengers and a rise of 4.8% in cargo year-on-year.

Of these, domestic operations recorded 8,907 take-offs and landings, 1.35 million passengers and 6.81 thousand tonnes of cargo (up 0.6% in movements, down 7.5% in passengers and down 11.6% in cargo), while international operations reached 6,016 movements, 1 million passengers and 24.05 thousand tonnes of cargo (up 6.5% in movements, 10% in passengers and 10.6% in cargo).

Assessing the air transport during the holidays, Uong Viet Dung, Head of the Civil Aviation Authority of Viet Nam, said that throughout the holiday period, aviation units strictly fulfilled duty arrangements and maintained oversight of security, safety and service quality, ensuring continuous and smooth operations.
