Within the framework of the “Pride of Vietnamese Farmers” annual programme, the event discussed policies and legal corridor to promote non-cash payments in rural and remote areas as well as solutions and services of non-cash payments designed specifically for farmers.
Addressing the seminar, Vice President of the Vietnam Farmers’ Union Central Committee Pham Tien Nam said that non-cash payments have been selected by a large number of Vietnamese people but the commercialisation of this payment method in rural areas still faces many difficulties, requiring solutions from relevant ministries and agencies.
“In order to foster non-cash payments in rural, mountainous and remote areas, it is necessary to promote communication, so that people understand the benefits specific to this form of payment to make their own decisions. It is more important to synchronise policies and infrastructure so that modern payment methods can be used more widely in rural areas," Nam noted.
Sharing the same view, State Bank Deputy Governor Pham Tien Dung affirmed that the banking sector always accompanies relevant agencies in implementing programmes and policies in support of rural development and to bring banking products and services to people in rural, remote and far-flung areas, such as cashless payment services.
Dung added that the State Bank will continue to facilitate the cashless payments in rural and remote areas, such as the use of telecommunication accounts to pay for services of small value and various others.
