Central Highlands Regional Press Awards honours outstanding works

The Vietnam Journalists' Association in coordination with the Gia Lai Provincial Journalists Association held a ceremony to honour the winners of the 1st Central Highlands Regional Press Awards, in Pleiku City, Gia Lai Province, on August 5.

This is the first time the Vietnam Journalists' Association has organised the award in the Central Highlands region to recognise, encourage, and honour journalists, reporters, editors, collaborators, resident reporters, and correspondents of press agencies in the Central Highlands region, who have good quality press works published in 2023 about the Central Highlands region.

The first Central Highlands Regional Press Awards attracted 250 entries with four types of journalism, from journalists, reporters, members, and resident reporters working at the Journalists' Association, and press agencies in the Central Highlands region, including Kon Tum, Gia Lai, Dak Lak, Dak Nong, and Lam Dong.

According to the judge's evaluation, the entries were well-organized, and were of good quality in terms of content and form, with new, concise, brief themes and rich content. Some entries showcased the cultural features and efforts to preserve the customs and culture of local authorities and ethnic groups in the Central Highlands.

The topics mentioned by many units include protecting the sovereignty and security of the Fatherland and building a great solidarity bloc in the community of ethnic groups in the Central Highlands.

In addition, the works also reflect the topics of all aspects of the life of the Central Highlands people in building a cultural life in the village, solidarity to help each other eliminate hunger, reduce poverty, popularise culture and eliminate illiteracy, especially, raising awareness of joining hands to protect forests and wildlife.

The jury selected 22 winning works including two first prizes, four second prizes, six third prizes and ten consolation prizes.

Nhan Dan Television, Da Nang branch, won the second prize in the Documentary category by the group of authors Hoang Phuc Thang, Do The Van, Le Anh Quan, Le Thanh Tung, Doan Van Minh and Tran Xuan Thang.

Following the success of the first award, the Organizing Committee continued to launch the second Central Highlands Regional Press Award 2025 with four types of press: Print newspaper, electronic newspaper, radio and television.
