The Cuban Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City Bernabe Garcia Valido made the affirmation at a meeting with leaders of the People’s Committee of the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho on December 13.
Cuba has recently built a duty-free industrial zone, he said, calling on Vietnamese enterprises to become the first to invest in the zone.
According to the Consul General, the Caribbean country now hopes to attract investment in tourism, community heath, agriculture and industry.
At the meeting, Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Vo Thanh Thong thanked Cuban leaders and people for their warm feelings towards Vietnam as well as incentives to businesses in the Mekong Delta region.
He instructed the Can Tho Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion Centre to discuss investment chances in the duty free zone in details with the Cuban side, and soon organise a seminar on this issue between a Cuban Embassy’s delegation and local businesses.
