Cultural and Sports Festival of Ethnic Minorities in Southern Central Highlands opens

The 7th Cultural and Sports Festival of Ethnic Minorities in the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong officially opened on October 24.

The festival demonstrates the spirit of solidarity in the Southern Central Highlands with the participation of more than 300 folk artists from 12 districts and cities in Lam Dong Province.

The grand performance of gongs and cymbals by 12 groups of artists from 12 districts and cities in Lam Dong Province, along with 8 gong teams of Bao Lam District, created a vibrant atmosphere in the middle of the great forest.

In his opening speech, Tran Thanh Hoai, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Lam Dong Province and head of the festival organising committee, said that the Lam Dong Ethnic Culture and Sports Festival is an opportunity to exchange and honour the cultural heritage values ​​of the Ma, Co Ho, Chu Ru and M'Nong ethnic groups, an indispensable part of the Central Highlands Gong Cultural Space.

At the opening night, there was a reenactment of the Nho R’he Festival (celebrating the new rice of the Ma people), featuring a contest to decorate the gong cultural space and introduce traditional cuisine of the southern Central Highlands ethnic groups.
